Babel Day Centre (www.babeldc.gr) is organizing a hybrid conference titled: Refugee Experiences of Violence and Torture: From Suffering to Relief.

Invited speakers include refugees with experiences of torture and violence, academics (Renos Papadopoulos, Centre for Trauma, Asylum and Refugees, University of Essex), mental health professionals (Antonello D’Elia, psychiatrist, Chair of Psichiatria Democratica, Ilias Papadimitriou, psychiatrist, Babel Day Centre, Natasha Hanta-Martin, dance anthropologist, Anasa Cultural Centre, Alexis Papakostas, psychiatric resident, Nefeli Roumelioti, psychologist, Babel Day Centre), Spyros Koulocheris, lawyer and researchers (Anna Papaeti, musicologist, National Research Foundation).
There will be a presentation and discussion of the proposal by Médecins Sans Frontières, the Hellenic Council for Refugees and the Babel Day Centre for the provision of adequate support to survivors of torture who arrive in Greece from other countries.
Special guest: Hercules Moskov, Secretary General for Vulnerable Citizens and Institutional Protection (Ministry of Migration and Asylum).
